The Fifth Russian Coking Conference
Another Russian Coking and By-product Conference was held in Moscow on October 10-11, 2019. The venue was the customary conference hall of Mercure Moscow Paveletskaya Hotel complex. This summit brought together more than 80 delegates, representing top managers and experts of 33 companies and organizations from 10 countries, operating in coal supply, coke making, coke and by-product machinery and equipment manufacturing, producers of refractories and firms specializing in CO&BP facilities designing, engineering and expert consulting.
Innovations in the coke and by-product industry made the keynote subject of the summit. That can be attributed to the significantly higher rates of upgrading/retrofitting of the production facilities at coke and by-product plants in Russia. The interest to and demand for the up-to-date techniques and processes have increased, too. In total, 21 speeches on a number of relevant topics were delivered during the conference, among them the following subjects:
- current condition and development prospects of the met coal resources and the total coke ovens at Russian plants;
- success cases of CO&BP facilities upgrading and retrofitting;
- up-to-date design and engineering solutions CO&BP facilities (including innovations);
- machinery, equipment and refractories for the coke and by-product industry;
- repair techniques and methods;
- the issues of stock control and notification for chemical products.
As suggested by VUKHIN, setting up a national coke and by-product industry association was discussed.
After the conference was over, the attendees were invited to join a pre-arranged entertainment city tour, which allowed them to socialize and network in an informal and friendly atmosphere.
